Two Triples From Coloma Highlight Doubleheader Sweep

CHICO, Calif. – Chico State overcame an early six-run deficit to win the opener in extra innings before riding a dominant offensive performance in the nightcap to sweep a 9/7-inning doubleheader from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs on Friday at Nettleton Stadium.

The Wildcats rallied for an 8–7, 10-inning victory in game one and followed with a 10–3 win in the seven-inning nightcap to improve to 8–6 on the season.

Wildcat Standouts
Keoni Coloma – Delivered one of the most explosive performances in recent program history, going 4-for-4 with two triples, three runs scored, and two RBI in game two. He also drove in two runs in game one.
Aaron McCurley – Stabilized the opener after Andrew Seibert exited early due to injury, throwing 5.2 innings and allowing just one earned run to keep Chico State within striking distance.
Jack Tews – Earned the win in game two, tossing 5.0 innings while striking out six and limiting UCCS to two earned runs.

Game 1 – Chico State 8, UCCS 7 (10 innings)
UCCS erupted for six runs in the second inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues to take early control.

Chico State chipped away, scoring once in the third and three times in the fourth, highlighted by a two-run triple from Coloma. The Wildcats added two runs in the sixth and forced extra innings with a run in the ninth.

McCurley's extended relief appearance proved pivotal after Seibert left the game due to injury, allowing the Wildcats to regroup and mount the comeback.

In the 10th inning, Jackson Snitko delivered the game-winning sacrifice fly to complete the rally.

Game 2 – Chico State 10, UCCS 3
The Wildcats wasted no time in the nightcap, scoring four runs in the first inning behind RBI hits from Snitko, Michael Baker, Coloma, and Carson Case.

Chico State added two runs in the second and two more in the third, with Jesse Gadd driving in a pair. Coloma continued his dominant evening, tripling twice and scoring three runs as the Wildcats built a commanding lead.

Tews worked efficiently through five innings, striking out six, before Caden Hodina and Jakob von Lubken closed out the victory.

By the Numbers
– Chico State scored 18 runs on 18 hits across the doubleheader.
– The Wildcats are 3–0 in extra-inning games this season.
– Chico State did not commit an error in game two.
– Coloma reached base six times on the day and recorded two triples in game two.

Wildcat Tidbits
– Keoni Coloma becomes the first player since 2015 to record two triples in a game and the fifth since 1997.
– It is the third time this season the Wildcats have had to play extra innings. Chico State is 3–0 in extras this season.
– This was the first ever meeting between Chico State and UCCS.
