Win Streak Comes to and End as Wildcats Drop Tight One to No. 10 Broncos

CHICO, Calif. – Chico State saw its record-tying 14-game win streak snapped to 10th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona in the FloCollege/CCAA Game of the Week Saturday in Acker Gym. The loss marked the first for the Wildcats in CCAA action this season, ending a program-record start of winning the first 11 conference games.

Chico State (15–3, 11–1 CCAA) battled back from a slow start and briefly grabbed the lead late, but Cal Poly Pomona (16–2, 11–1 CCAA) answered in the final two minutes and closed out a 62–59 win in front of 439 fans.

Game Summary
– Chico State was held to six points in the opening quarter and trailed 14–6 after one.
– The Wildcats found rhythm in the second quarter and closed within 31–27 at halftime.
– Cal Poly Pomona maintained control coming out of the break and carried a 47–40 lead into the fourth.
– Chico State rallied late and took a 59–58 lead on a Madison Parry three-pointer with 2:22 remaining.
– Sydney Nelson answered with a jumper at the 1:32 mark to put Pomona back in front.
– After a defensive stop, the Broncos added two free throws to extend the lead to 62–59.
– Chico State was unable to convert on its final looks as Pomona held on in the closing seconds.
