CERES, Calif. – Entering the 2025 season as the No. 1-ranked team in the West Region and No. 7 in the nation, the Chico State men's cross country team showed why it remains a powerhouse program Friday evening at the Kim Duyst Twilight Invitational. Competing under twilight skies at River Oaks Golf Course, the Wildcats placed third in a stacked 17-team field—finishing just 10 points behind UC Davis and three points behind California.
Junior Mario Giannini led the way with a second-place individual finish, clocking in at 23:31.0, followed closely by senior Damian Garcia, who placed fifth in 23:35.2. Chico State finished with a team score of 64 points, averaging 24:03 per runner across its top five.
The Wildcats were the top finisher among Division II schools and the highest-placing CCAA program in the field.
