GOODYEAR, Ariz. - An incredible rally from the Wildcats as they earn their best finish of the spring season as Naoki Easterday extends his impressive stretch of top-five finishes to five consecutive. The RJGA Men's Palm Valley Classic hosted a collection of nineteen teams hailing from the west, south-central and central regions.
Chico State finished in second place with a team score of 837 (-27), the team's best and lowest collective score of the season. Naoki Easterday strung an incredible set of rounds together, topping it off with a 66 (-6) to maintain his hold on the top three, only three strokes behind the leader. This is Easterday's fourth consecutive top-five finish and fifth of the season.
Midwestern State held onto its grip on the lead with a solid team performance of 272 (-16), keeping the Wildcats at arm's length to win the title.
Regardless, the Chico State men's golf team can walk off the greens knowing they gave the Mustangs a challenge in the final round. The Wildcats concluded the tournament in the desert with a 276 (-12), the second-best team score of the day, lifting them past CCAA opponents Cal State East Bay.
Travis Miller nabbed his best finish in the spring after finishing the RJGA in 8th place, carding a 209 (-7) through fifty-four holes. Miller was efficient on par fours throughout the tournament, scoring effectively at four-under while penciling in an eagle in the second round.
Giuliano Kaminski concluded the tournament, tying his best finish of the season in 16th place, carding a 212 (-4) with his best round on Tuesday of 69 (-3).
Finding his rhythm on the team, Giuseppe Aliotti finished in 25th to boast his best finish after three tournaments with the Wildcats. He scored a 213 (-3) at the Palm Valley GC, with fourteen birdies throughout the three rounds.
Ben Mouser finished 75th and carded a 222 (+6) at the RJGA.
Chico State men's golf will compete at the Hanny Stanislaus Invite in their final regular season competition before heading to Santa Barbara for the 2025 CCAA Championships, hosted by Cal State Dominguez Hills on April 21-23.
