SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Playing with a view overlooking the coast at the 6,001-yard, par-72 Sandpiper Golf Club, the Chico State women's golf team completed the first of three rounds at the CCAA Championships Monday.
With 18 holes complete, the Wildcats are 50-over par and currently sits sixth in the standings.
Trinity Hernandez was Chico State's top finisher on the day, scoring 12-over par. She made two birdies and came up with par six times. She currently is in 20
th overall.
Brooke Pelletier and Makenzi Laporte each went 13-over in their first official trip through the course, Ariana Blagrove finished one stroke behind them and Hollyn Drennen rounded out the group at 19-over.
The Wildcats had success in two holes, both of which were par-3s. In the sixth hole, Blagrove made a birdie while Pelletier, Laporte and Drennen made par. In the 11
th hole, Hernandez went 1-under while Pelletier, Laporte and Blagrove each made par.
Cal State East Bay leads the pack at 14-over while Cal State San Marcos' Kiara Hernandez is on top of the individual leaderboard at 2-over.
Round two begins Tuesday with Drennen teeing off first at 8 a.m.
