TURLOCK, Calif. - A rough weekend in Turlock as the Wildcats drop their first series, falling twice more to the Warriors by a single run in both games. Chico State battled hard but came up shy of stealing a game over Stanislaus State on the road.
Game 1
In a closely contested league softball game on March 1, 2025, the Chico State Wildcats were narrowly defeated by the Stanislaus State Warriors, with a final score of 3-2 at Warrior Softball in Turlock, Calif. Under sunny skies, the Wildcats displayed a valiant effort but fell just short of a victory against their league counterparts.
Chico State's starting pitcher Amelie Valdez showcased a strong performance, striking out four over three innings, despite allowing three runs. Hannah Levy stood out for the Wildcats by delivering a crucial 2-RBI single in the sixth inning, which brought Chico State closer to overcoming the early lead established by the Warriors.
Game 2

The sunny weather set perfect conditions for the day, yet the Wildcats couldn't capitalize on the opportunities as their offense was held off the scoreboard.
With Wildcats starting pitcher Kylie Loertscher on the mound, the team maintained a strong defense throughout the game, holding the Warriors to just one run. Despite the commendable effort from Loertscher and the defense, Stanislaus State's lone run proved to be decisive. Notably, the Wildcats showed potential with players Kennedy Gustin, Gracie Dunning, Aiyana Curry, Ali Lewis, Hannah Levy, Marissa Anderson, and Elisa Haas all contributing to the team's efforts, although they couldn't manage to convert these into scoring runs.
Despite the loss, the Wildcats' current record stands at 11-8, with a handful of conference series' to be played in the coming weeks. They return home next weekend for a series against Cal State Dominguez Hills, starting on Friday at noon.
