Taylor’s Career-High Shuts Down Seawolves

CHICO, Calif. - The Wildcats keep rolling as they extend their win streak to seven after submerging the Seawolves 95-68 on Thursday. Chico State men's basketball jumps to 22-5 overall and 18-3 in CCAA, heading into their final regular season game on Saturday.

Notably, the 'Cats now lead the CCAA in total points per game average, recording 79.7 points across the season.

Following their flawless weekend in Southern California last week, the Wildcats have secured a first-round bye in the 2025 CCAA Championships. Trae Taylor ensured that the Wildcats maintained their momentum heading into next week's conference tournament, scoring a career-high 32 points--The junior from San Diego was a perfect fourteen for fourteen from the field.

Caden Harris was impressive early into the game as his confidence from three-point range was on display, tallying five long-range baskets against the Seawolves.

As both teams were trading baskets, the early battle slowly dissipated as the Wildcats fed off the energy of the home court crowd, heading into the halftime break with a 15-point lead. Eventually, the Wildcats built a 20-point lead that was too great for SSU to overcome.

After shooting a collective 59 percent from the field, the team nabs their third-best team shooting performance this season and their tenth game shooting over the fifty-percent mark.

The Wildcats host Cal State San Marcos this Saturday as they celebrate their valued seniors and close out the season in front of their home crowd. Tip-off at Art Acker Gym is at 3 p.m., with the senior celebration before the opening tip.
