CHICO, Calif. – A first-half goal from Dane Peterson proved to be the difference as Chico State earned a 1–0 shutout victory over Cal State San Marcos on Sunday at University Soccer Stadium. With the win, the Wildcats improved to 3-3-2 overall (1-0-1 CCAA), while the Cougars dropped to 2-4-3 (1-1-0 CCAA).

How it happened
The Wildcats struck first in the 21st minute when Dane Peterson finished a setup from Jack Shane, marking Peterson's team-leading fourth goal of the season.
From there, Weston Joyner and the Chico State defense held firm. Joyner stopped all four shots he faced—each coming after halftime—to record his second shutout of the year.
Cal State San Marcos mounted late pressure, outshooting Chico 15–13, but could not find an equalizer. Tony Flores made six saves for the Cougars in defeat.
