CHICO, Calif. – Chico State scored twice in the first half and held off San Francisco State for a 2–1 victory on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025, at University Soccer Stadium. With the win, the Wildcats improved to 6-5-2 overall (4-2-0 CCAA), while the Gators fell to 1-9-3 (1-4-1 CCAA).

How it happened
The Wildcats took control early, breaking through in the 9th minute when Gabby Starr converted a penalty kick to make it 1–0. Starr scored her first career goal for the 'Cats, burying the penalty kick into the bottom right corner to open the scoring. Jiana Martin doubled the lead 10 minutes later with her third goal of the season, giving Chico State a 2–0 halftime advantage. San Francisco State's Kaya Mitchem scored in the 78th minute to pull the visitors within one, but Chico's defense held firm over the final stretch. Goalkeeper Kennedy Briseno faced just one shot on goal as Chico dominated possession and outshot the Gators 30–3.
