White Wins First Career CCAA Runner of the Week Award

9/30/2024 4:37:00 PM

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – After being the top collegiate finisher that helped the Chico State men's cross country team dominate the team scoring at Western Washington's Bill Roe Classic on Saturday, senior Dylan White was selected as the CCAA's Runner of the Week for the week of September 23-29.

White, the reigning CCAA Runner of the Year and last year's conference champion, earned his first CCAA Runner of the Week award for the first time in his illustrious collegiate career. It is also Chico State's second weekly accolade in as many opportunities. Damian Garcia earned the first one on September 16 at the Kim Duyst Invitational in his hometown of Turlock.

A native of Clayton, Calif., White timed in 24:02.3 to finish second overall in the race and was one of five Chico State runners to place in the top 10 as the national-ranked No. 7 Wildcats easily won the team competition, 28-56, over host No. 10 Western Washington.

The Wildcats head to Golden Gate Park to participate in the San Francisco State Invitational on October 11.
