‘Cats Close Out Bishop Invite with Impressive Final Round

DUPONT, Wash. - The Wildcats closed out their first tournament of the year with a positive set of rounds at The Home Course. Chico State finished in 8th of 19 programs at the Bishop Invite, providing a strong, under-par round to secure their first top-10 finish.

Fellow CCAA program, Cal State East Bay finished in a tie for the top spot with Colorado Mesa University, showcasing the strength of the west and south-central regions. 

Travis Miller held the top spot on the squad with an impressive 68 (-4) closing round, giving the 'Cats a good boost in their final score. An eagle on the 11th hole awarded the senior some confidence as he battled through the remainder of his round, adding two more birdies and remaining bogey less through the final hole.

Miller 213 (-3) finished in a tie for 4th with four other golfers following his strong final day.

Ben Mouser gave it his all on the final day, carding a 71 (-1) in his first start of the season. Mouser penciled in four birdies on the day, and a birdie on the 9th hole secured him the under-par round.

Mouser finished in a top-25 spot with his impressive 71 in the final round.

Naoki Easterday found his rhythm in the closing round, carding a 72 (E) as the Wildcats left DuPont. The junior sunk his share of birdie puts to help his Wildcats shoot the third-best team score of the day. The junior claimed a tie for 37th with a 221 total score. 

Alex LemMon carded a 75 (+3) in his final 18-holes, teammate Giuliano Kaminski concluding his day with a 76 (+4). Both Wildcats finished in the top 50 of the field.

The Wildcats continue their road trip in the PNW on Monday as they participate in the Western Washington Invitational from September 31 to October 1.
