CHICO - It was a great day at Wildcat Stadium as the Chico State Track & Field team competed in front of a home crowd at the Wildcat Invitational. It was highlighted by multiple strong finishes and a provisional mark set by Jose Peterson in the javelin throw.

Starting the weekend with the throwing portion of the field events, senior Ava Cavallaro stapled together three strong performances in the shot put, discus, and hammer throw. Cavallaro's best mark of the day was an 11.98m mark in the shot put, just four centimeters shy of her personal best that she set back at the 2023 conference championships.

Junior Sage Coyle set a new personal best in the shot put with a 9.51m mark while recording a 39.79m toss in the hammer throw.

A highlight of the field events was Josie Perterson's new personal best javelin throw mark of 44.29m, coupling her new PR with an NCAA DII provisional mark. She bested her previous record by over two and a half meters.

Rebecca Graham tied for the top spot in the pole vault with Cal Poly Humboldt's Erin Bechtold with a 3.35m vault. Teammates Elise Barnum and Samantha Brackett finished just behind Graham with 3.20m vaults.

Kendra Pearson leaped her way into the top mark for the high jump, clearing the 1.62m mark, five meters higher than second place. The senior jumper is just shy of the provisional mark of 1.67m.

Danielle Bacon competed in four events today and recorded two new personal bests. The Tracy native took fourth in the 100m but earned a new personal best time in the prelims race of 12.87. In the 200m dash, Bacon crossed the finish line in a tie with Tianna Thompson of Redwoods with a new PR of 25.57.

Katie Hawley took the top spot in the 800m with a time of 2:19.90, freshman teammate Sienna Bianchi coming in at second place just behind Hawley with a time of 2:21.67.

A group of Wildcats swept the top spots in the 1500-meter run, with senior Marissa D'Atri leading the pack at 4:42.42. Della Molina, Sienna Bianchi, Iresh Molina and Katie Hawley followed closely behind, sweeping the top five spots in the event.

Alexis Hinajosa set a new personal best as she crossed the finish line in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.31. The senior sprinter took second in all of her track events during the home invite, taking second place in the 4x100 relay alongside Sativa Younge, Jessica James, and Kaitlyn Gonzales—the group recording a time of 49.61.
