ALAMEDA - After a stellar finish on Monday, the Chico State men's golf team was in prime position to keep moving up on the team's list with one more solid round at Corica Park.
Tyler Ashman had an outstanding tournament in his third outing of the season, recording his best finish of the spring segment and his career single-round lowest score of 8-under 66 in round 1. Ashman ended the tournament in a T-4 position with an 8-under 209, carding 15 birdies and one eagle.
Naoki Easterday finished just behind Ashman in the leaderboard in a T-6, carding a seven-under 210. The Oakland native scored a 2-under 70 for his final round, complementing his two previous under-par rounds on Monday while recording the most pars with 44 through fifty-four holes.
Coming in third on the team was Travis Miller, carding a 3-under 213 after recording three under-par rounds at Corica Park, maintaining a moderate outing on the final day at even par.
Dakota Ochoa was one of two 'Cats to shoot under par in the final round, helping lift his team in the final round to their third-place finish. Ochoa carded an eleven over 227 for his tournament total.Â
Rounding out the Wildcats was Ben Mouser, carding a 13 over 229 in Alameda.
The Wildcats solo individual player Brayden Russo carded a 22 over 238.
Ashman and Miller tallied the only eagles in the tournament for the Wildcats, both coming on the first day.
Chico State was the most consistent squad in par scoring, recording 172 pars across all golfers. Of the five Wildcats, no one recorded anything over a bogey, minimizing any sign of trouble throughout the final round and composing themselves to jump ahead in the standings.
