Wildcats Finish Third at Golden Gate Parkway in SF State Invite

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The Wildcats have a busy weekend ahead of them as Gary Towne split up his Wildcats squad with half of the team participating in the Friday SF State Invite at Golden Gate Park Speedway Meadow.

Chico State women's cross-country lined up against a long list of solid programs from Northern California, including D1 competitors Sacramento State and San Jose State.

The Wildcats finished the race with a team score of 91, finishing in 3rd behind Sacramento State (38) and Stanislaus State (33). The Warriors won in The Bay as their top squad participated in the race.

Jaclyn Denham was the top finisher for the 'Cats, crossing the line in 11th at 22:23.0. 

Teammates Zoe Aitken and Hannah Wirth finished behind Denham, crossing in 15th and 16th, respectively. Aitken, a freshman, had her best race of the season with a PR of 22:32.8.

Jennifer Ruiz ran a strong 6K, the senior finishing in 21st with a time of 22:51.5. The remaining scoring positions saw Grace Reed (28th), Roxana Diaz (29th), and Olivia Beschorner (30th).

The other half of the Wildcats squad traveled to Alabama and are charged to compete in the Charger Invitational, hosted by the University of Alabama Huntsville. The 'Cats will line up against a unique field of nationwide competitors at 6 a.m. Pacific Time.
