Wildcats Face Tough Challenge In Golden

Shifting Their Focus Towards GNAC Visitors At Home Next Week

GOLDEN, Colo. - After an exciting game Friday night against Regis, the Wildcats were tasked with taking on No.4 Colorado School of Mines early Sunday afternoon. Chico State was slow to find its rhythm throughout the game, starting to find their offensive rhythm late into the second half, shifting the pressure slightly towards the home side.

After a national tournament appearance, falling to the eventual national champions, the Orediggers showed their depth and experience.

The home side scored three early goals against the Wildcats and tacked on one extra early into the second half. It created a significant challenge for the 'Cats as they began to apply pressure in the match's closing minutes.

Emma Hofmann collected eight saves for the Wildcats, facing 12 shots on goal.

Summer Baron and Avery Pieri created chances late into the second half but couldn't quite find the frame of the goal. Pieri recorded the solo shot on goal for the 'Cats with a low driven shot to the left corner in the 80th minute.

The Wildcats will be back at home against GNAC opponent Central Washington on Thursday, September 7, at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast through the CCAA Network.
