The days of heavy rain in Southern California has taken its toll on the Cal State San Marcos baseball field. Extremely wet field conditions have forced the cancellation of Sunday's planned baseball doubleheader between Chico State and Cal State San Marcos. The two teams are hoping to salvage the scheduled four-game series with a doubleheader on Monday.
 
According to Cal State San Marcos, despite working on the field throughout the morning, there was still standing water all over the outfield as of noon Sunday. Squeegeeing efforts only created mud on various parts of the field.
 
The Wildcats and Cougars hope to complete part of the series Monday, with a doubleheader tentatively scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Officials and coaches are scheduled to meet at 9:30 Monday morning to access whether the field will be in playable condition for the planned twin bill.
