CHICO – The Chico State volleyball team battled another AVCA Top 25 opponent in No. 22 Cal Poly Pomona Friday evening. Despite the effort, the Wildcats couldn't stop the Broncos and were swept 21-25, 14-25, 17-25 at Acker Gym.
Zoe DiNardo led the effort with a dozen kills and 11 digs for a double-double while Zoe DiNardo dished out 24 digs on the night.
The Wildcats as a whole hit .114 in the match, including a game-high 25 percent in the first set. The Broncos, on the other hand, hit .378 on the attack.
The first set was the best opportunity for the Wildcats to secure a game win. Down 17-10, the Wildcats went on a six-point run to get to within one. Taylor Whyte had two kills during the momentum.
Chico State returns to Acker Gym for a Saturday afternoon matchup with Cal State San Marcos at 3 p.m. The Cougars are coming to Chico after sweeping Stanislaus State tonight. They also took care of the Wildcats in four sets at The Sports Center last month.
