FREMONT - A beautiful course and an equally picturesque morning for the CCAA Cross-Country Championships at Quarry Lakes Regional Park and the Wildcats were on the hunt for this year's title. An outstanding race from the Molina sisters, lead the Wildcats to their 17th CCAA Conference title, all accomplished within the last 21 years.
The Molina twins were connected at the hip for the bulk of the race, working their way through the pack together to the front, crossing the finish line in 3rd and 4th. Iresh taking the slight lead ahead of her sister by three seconds in the final straight with a time of 21:18.4.
Teammates Sophie Pelletier and Hannah Wirth battled their way through the pack to boost the Wildcats score. Pelletier crossing in 11th at 21:48 and Wirth only a single position and single second behind her in 12th.
Jaclyn Denham recorded an impressive time of 21:58 and rounded out the top fifteen runners in 15th.
Coming in at 17th was Jacqueline Cascione, recording her fastest race of the season so far with a time of 22:05.
Rounding out the scoring for the Wildcats was freshman Megan Malloy, taking part in her first conference meet and finishing in 23rd with a time of 22:19.
Following just behind of Malloy were fellow Wildcats, Gracie Dupuis and Sienna Bianchi, who were just outside the scoring for their squad but played pivotal roles in pushing the 'Cats. Dupuis the sole senior on in the group of runners for Chico State, capturing one more conference title in her career.
Chico State finished with a point total of 45, beating out the defending champions Stanislaus State at 61 with the Broncos of CPP just behind them at 63 points.
