Cameron Duquette's journey to collegiate success has been a long and challenging one. The talented men's distance runner competed at Holy Names University, Modesto Junior College, and Notre Dame de Namur before becoming a Wildcat, but once he came under head coach Gary Towne's tutelage, the Modesto native finally found a home—and has done nothing but excel. Case in point: his fourth place finish at the 2022 CCAA Cross Country Championships—a performance that not only helped the 'Cats capture the program's 20th consecutive conference title, but makes Duquette the Wildcat of the Week.
Duquette registered a time of 24:53.3 on Carmel's Palo Corona Regional Park's 8k layout, earning All-CCAA honors while finishing just eight seconds behind teammate and competition winner Rory Abberton, and less than four seconds behind runner-up and fellow Wildcat Jack Emanuel.
The performance was Duquette's second straight all-conference cross country effort. He placed eighth in the 2021 CCAA Cross Country Championships in San Marcos. Last spring, Duquette was the conference's 10,000-meter champion at the 2022 CCAA Track & Field Championships.
Duquette and the rest of the Chico State men's cross country team now set their sights on the NCAA West Regional, taking place Saturday, November 19 at Amend Park in Billings, Montana.
