CCAA-opening series now set to begin Sunday

Wildcats face Stanislaus State for two at The Nett

Chico State baseball's 2019 California Collegiate Athletic Association opener is set to start Sunday with a home doubleheader against Stanislaus State. The second two games of the season are postponed until a later date still to be determined.

The original schedule called for single games Friday and Saturday in Chico before heavy rains rendered the field unplayable until Sunday.

Chico State, winner of the 2016 and 2017 CCAA titles, was picked by the conference's coaches to finish fourth this season. The Wildcats opened the season ranked No. 21 in the nation and are off to a 4-1 start, having won a pair at Fresno Pacific before taking two of three from Simpson University last weekend at Nettleton Stadium.

Stanislaus State is 4-2. The Warriors opened the season by sweeping a doubleheader against Holy Names, lost two of three against 8th-ranked Azusa Pacific, and then beat Central Washington on Monday. They were picked to finish ninth in the CCAA.

Sunday's games will be broadcast locally on AM-1290 and 102.9 FM KPAY. Every Chico State baseball game this season will be streamed online via www.chicowildcats.com, where links to live stats and streaming video are also available.
