Jeremiah Egujie scored his fourth match winning goal of the season and the Chico State men's soccer team logged its third shutout in the last four matches in a 1-0 victory over archrival Sonoma State Friday at University Soccer Stadium.
Â
Esten Schroeder played Egujie into space down the left flank. With just one man to beat, the senior did the rest. Egujie took two touches toward the middle of the pitch and then played the ball back through his legs to his left foot and hammered a shot from 15 yards inside the near post in the 26th minute.

That was enough for the Wildcats, who improved to 8-3-1 overall and climbed into a tie for third in the California Collegiate Athletic Association at 5-2-0.
Â
Sonoma State fell to 2-8-3 overall and 0-7-2 in the CCAA.
Â
The Wildcats are 2-0-2 in their last four at home against Sonoma State, which has not won in Chico since 2011.
Â
Defender Joshua Belda saved a ball off the line two minutes prior to Egujie's strike, and Wildcats goalkeeper Damion Lewis made seven saves for his fifth clean sheet of the season and the 18th of his career.
Â
Chico State has now won six of its last seven, including three straight at home.
Â
The Wildcats hope to continue that streak Sunday when Humboldt State visits for an 11:30 a.m. matchup.
