SAN DIEGO – Chico State shortstop Casey Henderson, a transfer from Palomar Community College, came to the team with a golden-glove reputation. Friday, he flashed a great bat as well, leading the Wildcats to a 6–3 victory at Point Loma Nazarene. Henderson hit a tiebreaking RBI double in the fifth and smashed a two-run homer in the seventh as the Wildcats won for the second straight day at Point Loma.

th-ranked Wildcats improved to 2-0 and have now beaten 40
th-ranked Point Loma (0-2) five times in a row dating back to last season.

Cameron Santos smacked a two-run homer.
Wildcats starter Cam Greenough was a winner in his first NCAA appearance. He retired the first 10 batters he faced and allowed two runs on four hits in five innings of work.
Redshirt freshman Grant Larson pitched effectively for the second straight day, striking out five in two scoreless innings of work. Jae Wagner needed only seven pitches to retire the Sea Lions in order in the ninth for his second save.

After Point Loma knotted the score in the bottom-half of the inning, Chico State took the lead for good in the fifth. Cody Snider led off the inning with a double down the right-field line, and two batters later, Henderson hit a two-bagger down the left-field line to bring him home for a 3–2 lead.
After Larson struck out four in the sixth (the first batter of the inning reached on a wild pitch), the Wildcats added on in the seventh.
Jimbo Pernetti started the rally with a leadoff double. Pinch hitter Josh Falco plated him with a single to center, and then Henderson hammered a ball over the wall in straight-away center to stretch the lead to 6–2.
