POMONA – The Chico State men's soccer team's 2-1 loss at 22
nd-ranked Cal Poly Pomona Friday night marked another chapter in a season marked thus far by near misses.
The Wildcats led 1-0 after Matt Hurlow's penalty kick in the 20
th minute. But they surrendered the equalizer 10 minutes later and the match winner with only 1:43 remaining in regulation.
Chico State, now 4-6-2 overall and 2-4-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, also has a 1-0 loss at 12
th-ranked Seattle Pacific and 2-1 loss at 6
th-ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills on its ledger.
Dominguez Hills, Seattle Pacific and Cal Poly Pomona are the top three teams in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America West Region rankings. The Wildcats have also played to a 1-1 draw with NSCAA West No. 6 Cal State L.A. and fell 1-0 to NSCAA West No. 7 Cal State Stanislaus.
Chico State will play the final road match of its regular season Sunday at Cal State San Bernardino at 11:30 a.m.
