Box Score 2 TURLOCK – The Chico State baseball team rallied for four ninth-inning runs to win the first game of a doubleheader, then kept rolling in the nightcap to sweep Cal State Stanislaus Saturday at Warrior Field by scores of 6-3 and 11-0.
The Wildcats trailed 3-2 heading into the ninth inning of the first game before Tyler Madrid singled home
the tying run and Eric Angerer gave Chico State the lead with a two-run double. Connor Huesers singled home the final run of the frame.
Luke Barker retired the Warriors in order in the bottom-half of the inning for his seventh save. Jesse Silva secured his first collegiate win after getting the final out of the eighth inning.
Madrid went 3-for-5 with three RBI in the nightcap. Dylan Garcia and Huesers tallied three hits and two RBI apiece.
They made an easy winner out of Brad Lohse (5-0), who twirled a two-hit shutout. Jake Bailey, making his first start behind the dish in weeks, went 1-for-3 with an RBI double.
The Wildcats improved to 19-5 overall and remain tied with Sonoma State atop the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings at 11-4.
The Wildcats, winners of five in a row and 13 of their last 15, will go for the series sweep Sunday at noon.
