Shelby Lanksbury's hustle and Megan Tabler's terrific chip shot turned a 1-1 tie into a two-goal advantage in the snap of just 33 seconds as the Chico State women's soccer team beat Cal Poly Pomona 3-1 Friday night at University Soccer Stadium.

The Wildcats were in the midst of a second-half swoon when Lanksbury battled to win a loose ball along the right flank and found Tabler alone atop of the box. Tabler took a touch and then hit a 20-yard floating teardrop off the goalkeeper's fingertips and into the net for a 2-1 edge.

Just 33 seconds later, Lanksbury raced after a ball played back to the keeper, leaping as she attempted to clear it. The ball ricocheted off of Lanksbury's side and into the back of the
Megan Tabler notched a goal and assist Friday.net for a 3-1 lead.

Lanksbury and Tabler finished with a goal and an assist and Lindsey Dias scored in the first half as Chico State improved to 5-3-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Cal Poly Pomona, ranked 6
th in the West entering play, fell to 6-3-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the CCAA.

Chico State goalkeeper Brianna Furner made five saves in collecting her 33
rd career win, good for sole possession of second place in the program's history. The senior needs seven more to catch all-time leader Kari Gonzales.

Tabler, the teams active career leaders in goals (7) and assists (9) set up the first goal with a driving free kick from 30 yards out on the left flank that found the head of Dias, who redirected it into the near corner of the net for a 1-0 lead in the 20
th minute.

The Wildcats enjoyed an 8-2 edge in first-half shots, but started the second half slowly.

Cal Poly Pomona took advantage when Indra Arteaga slid a pass to Daisy Duran in the middle of the box and then Duran dribbled around a defender and found the equalizer from 10 yards out.

The tide began to turn back Chico State's way when Wildcats Head Coach Kim Sutton called Danica Koos and Ella Fries off the bench to steady the midfield.

The Wildcats will go after their sixth goal in eight matches when UC San Diego (4-4-1, 1-2-0 CCAA) visits Sunday at 2 p.m.
