Here’s the real madness: Nettleton Stadium has sat empty for every Saturday thus far during the 2013 collegiate baseball season. Fortunately for Northern California baseball fans, that all changes this weekend.
The 13th-ranked Chico State baseball team will play 19 of its final 28 games at home, beginning with a four-game series this weekend against Cal State Stanislaus. The Wildcats, 15-5 overall and 8-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), take on Cal State Stanislaus Friday at 6. They host the Warriors (7-20 overall and 4-16 in the CCAA) for a doubleheader Saturday at noon. The series concludes with a single game Sunday at 11 a.m.
Chico State has played just four home games all season, taking three of four against Northwest Nazarene during a Wednesday through Friday series in late February.
But despite playing their first 12 conference games on the road, the Wildcats are in second place in the CCAA, percentage points behind Cal State L.A. If the Wildcats sweep Cal State Stanislaus this weekend, however, they’ll move back into first.
All four games will be broadcast locally on 101.7 FM/1340 AM FOX Sports Radio and streamed online via the Wildcat Webcast link at www.chicowildcats.com.
