When the Chico State baseball team heads north from Hayward on Sunday, the Wildcats will have completed a stretch of 12 straight California Collegiate Athletic Association games on the road to open 2013. Still, they could arrive in Chico in first place and primed to play 20 of their final 28 games at Nettleton Stadium.
Chico State, currently ranked No. 10 in the nation at 13-3 overall and 6-2 in the CCAA, opens a four-game series at Cal State East Bay Friday at 3 p.m. The series continues with a doubleheader Saturday at 11 a.m. and concludes with a single game Sunday morning at 11.
All four games will be broadcast locally on 101.7 FM and 1340 AM FOX Sports Radio and streamed online at www.chicowildcats.com via the Wildcat Webcast link.
The Pioneers enter the weekend 15-8 overall and 10-6 in the CCAA (tied for third).
The series features two of the hottest collegiate pitchers on the planet. Chico State’s Nick Baker has not allowed a run in his last three outings, spanning 21 innings. Cal State East Bay’s Sean Becker is the reigning NCBWA West Region Pitcher of the Week after tossing his second complete-game of the season.
