CARSON, Calif. - Kevin Seaver and Bret Ringer banged out three hits apiece, but the Chico State baseball team lost its third straight game at Cal State Dominguez Hills Sunday, 9-4. The Toros' John Alia hit two of the host team's four home runs as Dominguez Hills drew even with Chico State in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) standings at 11-9. The teams are tied for fifth place.
Chico State, now 15-13 overall, also got two hits off the bat of Jordan Larson and a pair of RBI from Deven Braden. The Wildcats will now play 22 of their next 24 games at home, beginning with a five-games series against Hawaii Pacific this week. The series begins Thursday at 6 p.m.
Alia's three-run homer in the first innings against Wildcats starter Mike Robbins staked the Toros to a lead they would never relinquish. The lead was 4-0 in the fourth when Braden got Chico State on the board with two-run triple.
RBI-singles from Kevin Seaver in the fifth and Adam Arakawa in the sixth drew the Wildcats to within 5-4, Back-to-back homers by Kevin Pillar and Alia in the seventh salted the game away for the Toros, however.
