Chico State women's golfer Abbey McGrew enjoyed a very productive fall, posting three top 15 finishes in four tournament appearances. As she proved at the St. Mary's Lady Rattler Invitational, the nearly four-month layoff between fall and spring seasons did not affect McGrew's effectiveness in the least—the senior carded a career-best round and notched her third top 10 finish of 2016-17. Her outstanding performance on the links makes McGrew the latest Wildcat of the Week.
 
McGrew paced the Wildcats by shooting an even-par 72 Monday at The Dominion Country Club in San Antonio, Texas. She started exceptionally strong—thanks to an eagle on the opening hole and a pair of early birdies, McGrew was sitting at 4-under par after just four holes. A birdie on No. 18 brought McGrew to even par on the day and positioned her to contend for medalist honors before overnight rains forced the cancellation of the Lady Rattler Invitational's second and final round.
 
McGrew leads the Wildcats with a 75.67 strokes-per-round average, delivering sub-80 scores in seven of the nine rounds she has played this season.
 
McGrew and the Wildcat women's golf team are back in action March 6-7 as part of the Cal State East Bay-hosted Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout at Hiddenbrooke Golf Club in Vallejo.
