Before the 2016 season even got underway, Chico State volleyball Head Coach Cody Hein forecasted that outside hitter Camryn Rocha would be a consistent point-scorer in the Wildcats offense.
For at least the first week, the true freshman has more than lived up to Hein's prediction.
Rocha amassed a team-high 52 kills in her Chico State debut, helping the 'Cats win three of four matches in the season-opening Route 92 Classic. Her potent production makes Rocha the fall's first Wildcat of the Week recipient.
Rocha posted a .273 hitting percentage while delivering double-digit kills in three of the Wildcats' four Route 92 Classic contests. She added 15 digs and was also a defensive presence at the net, contributing eight block assists to the 'Cats' attack.
Rocha's first match as a Wildcat resulted in 16 kills Friday against Dominican University.
Saturday she collected 13 kills in a four-set win over host school Notre Dame de Namur, then later in the day blasted a career-high 17 kills as the 'Cats swept Academy of Art.
Rocha and the Wildcats are back in action Thursday through Saturday, traveling to Turlock to take part in the West Region Volleyball Showcase.
