Chico State Athletics

It's been a decade since any Chico State thrower has hurled the discus farther than Wildcats senior Wade Tsang did Saturday. And only eight have ever flung it farther. Tsang's throw of 51.08 meters at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival was good for a second-place finish out of 30. The senior from Cupertino (De Anza Community College) led all collegiate competitors.
 
Tsang earned Wildcat of the Week honors by improving his personal record by nearly eight feet to score an NCAA Championship provisional mark. It's currently the 11^th best throw in Division II and second in the California Collegiate Athletic Association this year.
 
Tsang also ranks fifth in the CCAA in the shot put and ninth in the hammer throw.
 
Tsang and the Wildcats will be back in action this weekend at their own Chico State Distance Carnival and Twilight Invitational. The discus, shot put and hammer throw will take place Saturday afternoon and evening.
