Chico State sophomore defender Justin Walmsley made a great first impression in his first two matches in a Wildcats uniform, scoring a goal and notching an assist while helping to anchor a defense that has yet to allow a goal as the Wildcats swept a tough two-match road trip in Washington.
 
The sophomore transfer from Butte Community College assisted on J.P. Medina's late goal that salted away a 2-0 victory at Saint Martin's on Thursday. He played a ball over the top to Medina to the left of the penalty spot. The UC Riverside transfer settled it and slipped it past the keeper.
 
Saturday, Walmsley headed home Luis Martinez's free kick for the lone goal in a 1-0 victory at Seattle Pacific.
 
Walmsley played the full 90 minutes of each match as a starter on the right side of the defense. That defense allowed only 13 shots all weekend, only four of which were on goal.
