Chico State Athletics

Fans of the Chico State women’s basketball team are used to seeing Jazmine Miller fill up the stat sheet, especially in the scoring column. The junior guard did just that over the weekend, but also put up impressive numbers in a number of other categories to help the Wildcats win a pair of games at Acker Gym to run their season record to 4-0 and take over sole possession of first place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Miller’s all-around performance makes the Fairfield native the latest Wildcat of the Week.  

Miller matched her career high of 20 points Friday, knocking down three 3-pointers while collecting five rebounds and three steals in the ’Cats’ 68-57 victory over Cal Poly Pomona.

Saturday against CCAA rival Humboldt State, Miller shared high-point honors with teammate McKenzie Dalthorp, pouring in 12 points to go along with three rebounds, three assists and four steals as the Wildcats rolled over the Lumberjacks 64-49.

Miller, the CCAA’s top free shooter last season, was also solid at the foul line, hitting 10 of her 12 charity tosses over the weekend.

Miller currently ranks fifth in the CCAA in scoring, averaging 14.3 points a game. She is also fourth among conference players in 3-pointers per game (2.2), sixth in steals (2.2 a contest) and seventh in 3-point field goal percentage (42.9 percent).

This weekend Chico State hosts the 40th annual Coslet Classic at Acker Gym. Friday the Wildcats take on No. 8 Western Washington (6-0 on the season), then go head-to-head with 5-1 Seattle Pacific on Saturday. Both games tip off at 7:30 p.m.
