Chico State junior Kyle Souza posted a 4-under par 70-70–140 to lead the Wildcats to the Division II Championship Preview title at the Division II Championship Preview by two strokes at Robert Trent Jones at the Shoals Fighting Joe Golf Course in Florence, Ala. Souza finished tied for second, a single stroke out of the lead, to earn Wildcat of the Week honors.

The 2009-10 PING Second Team All-American has now finished among the top seven in all four of Chico State’s tournaments this season. He’s recorded eight sub-par rounds in 11 and posted a combined score of 14-under par and a stroke average of 70.7.

The Wildcats held off top-ranked North Alabama on its home course to secure their second title in four tournaments this fall. They finished second in the other two. Souza finished second at the season-opening Saint Martin’s Invitational, seventh at the Western Washington Invitational, and fifth at the InterWest Wildcat Classic.
