A midfielder's job description goes something like this: 1. Help your team score goals. 2. Don't let the other team score goals. Chico State midfielder Kelsey Ikemoto did her job perfectly this weekend. The senior from Torrance helped the Wildcats post shutouts against Humboldt State and Sonoma State this weekend, and she dished out two assists in Sunday's win against rival Sonoma. Ikemoto has been named Wildcat of the Week for her efforts.

Ikemoto and the Wildcats held their two opponents to just 11 shots all weekend. Only two of those shots were on goal.

Ikemoto began to show signs of heating up offensively Friday night when she hit a blast from 20 yards out that the goalkeeper just tipped up and over the frame. The goalkeeper stymied Ikemoto two more times on Sunday, but not enough to keep the Wildcats off the scoreboard. Twice she made nifty moves to get herself in goal-scoring position only to see her shots deflected by the keeper. But each time a Chico State teammate was there to settle the rebound and knock it home, generating a pair of assists for Ikemoto.

The two helpers raised Ikemoto's career total to eight. She's now just three shy of breaking into the school's caree top 11 in that category.
