Mark Taylor is in his fourth season as an assistant coach with the Chico State baseball program, where he works primarily with the Wildcats’ hitters and outfielders while also contributing to scouting and recruiting efforts. A former Wildcat student-athlete, Taylor has quickly established himself as a key member of the coaching staff, helping develop Chico State’s offensive approach and outfield defense.
Prior to returning to Chico State, Taylor served as an assistant coach at Butte College during the 2022 season. In that role, he worked closely with hitters and outfielders while assisting in recruiting, helping guide the program following its 2021 Golden Valley Conference championship campaign.
Taylor has also been actively involved in summer baseball at the American Legion level. He served as the head coach of the Chico Suns Baseball Club in 2024 and has spent multiple seasons (2018–2023, 2025) as an assistant coach with the Chico Nuts Baseball Club, continuing to develop local talent in the Chico area.
As a player, Taylor competed at both Chico State and Butte College. He spent two seasons with the Wildcats (2018–19), appearing in games during the 2019 campaign, before continuing his career at Butte College. As a first baseman for the Roadrunners in 2020 and 2021, he earned Second Team All-Golden Valley Conference honors in 2021 and led the team in RBIs during the 2020 season while helping the program capture a conference championship in 2021.
Taylor is a 2017 graduate of Pleasant Valley High School, where he played varsity baseball. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from Chico State in 2022, followed by a Master of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University, Irvine in 2024.
