Makenzi Laporte

After a stellar four-year career on the basketball court and on the golf course, Chico State alumna Makenzi Laporte moves into a graduate assistant role. In addition to helping the men's and women's golf coaches on the course, Laporte will begin a new career in athletic communications.

The 2024-25 Chico State Athletics Female Athlete of the Year, Laporte spent a majority of her collegiate career on the women's basketball team. While helping the Wildcats qualify for the NCAA West Regional twice, Laporte was voted All-CCAA first team as a senior and second team as a junior. She also joined an elite list by becoming the fifth student-athlete in Chico State women's basketball history to record 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in a career. Additionally, her 1,263 career points rank 10th all-time and her 612 career rebounds rank eighth best.

When basketball season concluded, Laporte would grab her clubs and join the women's golf team the remainder of the school year. She often participated in one tournament before competing in the CCAA Championships in the spring.

A native of Salinas, Laporte graduated from Chico State with a degree in communications and is pursuing her master's degree.
