2019–20
Redshirted for the Wildcats in the 2019 cross country season…Posted a 120th place finish November 17, 2019 at the PAUSATF Cross Country Championships, completing the 6.5k layout in 31:40…Ran once during the 2020 track & field season, finishing fourth in the 800m (with a time of 2:20.09) March 7 at the Kim Duyst Invitational…Earned 2019–20 CCAA All-Academic honors.
Pre-Chico Days
A mid-distance specialist at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, recorded a 2:15 PR for the 800m while placing fourth overall at the JC State Championships…Also qualified for the state meet as part of Cuesta’s 4x400 relay team…Two-year track & field team captain…Earned 2018 Western State Conference Honorable Mention in the 800m…Named CCCAA All-State in 800m…CCCAA Regional qualifier in 800m in 2017…Team cross country MVP in 2018…Team XC captain in 2017…Four-year letterwinner in both cross country and track at Atascadero High School…CIF qualifier in the 400m as a senior.
Personal
Born August 5, 1997, in Atascadero…Daughter of Garth and Deanne…Has three older siblings: Marissa, Brett, and Jacob…The person she most admires in the sports world is middle distance runner Alysia Montano (“She is an amazing person in both the sports world and in life. She has worked so hard make the Olympics equal for men and women. She inspires me with her racing techniques and her fun and hard-working attitude”)…Favorite course at Chico State is Women’s Studies, taught by Lauren Wilson…Chose to attend Chico State “because of the family-oriented team and amazing coaching staff. I feel that all of my teammates, coaches, and I have become like a family and that’s one of the key things I was looking for when looking into schools. I also was really hooked on the town and atmosphere of the city and the university. Plus, Chico is gorgeous in the fall”…Her greatest sports moment was “our first intersqaud track meet. We all dressed up from the decades (70s, 80s, and 90s) and supported each other while having lots of fun. Even our coaches dressed up and it was just such a great bonding experience and a memory I will never forget at Chico State”…The most interesting thing she’s ever done is making it to the Junior Olympics when she was 13 (“I got to run the 800m against some of the best kids in the nation and experience what big meets were like”)…The most impressive thing she’s ever accomplished is qualifying for the 2018 CCCAA State Track & Field Championship in the 800 meters and finishing fourth in the state meet…Has learned by running cross country to “hold on to all of your close teammates and coaches you encounter. I have made the closest friends on each team I have been a part of over the years. I know those people will always be there for me when I need someone. Even coaches I have had have become some of my greatest mentors and friends”…Enjoys bullet journaling and painting when she has some free time…Loves to cook and bake…At the top of her bucket list: “Travel to Alaska”…Best advice ever received came from her JC coach Brian Locher: “Your body can do anything I train my mind to do, and that I need to push past that barrier of worry and fear or hurting that I feel in my body at the moment”…Majoring in sociology…Plans to pursue a career as a Social worker, social psychologist, or sports psychologist.
