Biography

2019–20
Her first year as a Wildcat was an outstanding one, winning the CCAA cross country championship, receiving the conference’s Women’s Runner and Freshman of the Year awards, and earning All-West Region honors…Opened the 2019 season with a 6k time of 21:28 and a 34th place finish September 28, 2019 at the Capital Cross Challenge…Posted a 10th place showing (22:18.8) October 12, 2019 at the Western Washington Classic…Registered a time of 22:02.6 to take top honors at the October 26, 2019 CCAA Championships to lead the Wildcats to the program’s 12th straight conference title…Delivered a career-best 6k time of 20:56.2 on the way to fifth place finish November 9, 2019 at the NCAA West Regional…Wrapped up the cross country season with an 83rd place finish (21:30.01) at the NCAA Championships…Ran just once during the 2020 track & field season, winning the 5k event (17:41.93) March 7 at the Kim Duyst Invitational.    
 
Pre-Chico Days
Four-time All-League cross country selection at Lincoln High School…Twice qualified for the State championships...Named team MVP in her junior and senior seasons…Placed 32nd overall at the 2018 state meet with an 18:34 5k PR, setting a new school record…Concluded the season with a 38th place finish at the Foot Locker West Seeded race…On the track, helped lead the Fighting Zebras to the 2019 Foothill Valley League championship…Recorded PR’s of 2:21 and 5:12 for the 800m and 1,600m (both school records) during the regular season…Also holds school records in the 3,200m and 4x400m relay…Two-time All-League T&F honoree…Placed second overall at the Sac Joaquin Championships in the 3,200m with a 10:55 PR while becoming the first women’s runner in school history to qualify for the State track championships…Wrapped up her high school career with a 3,200m time of 11:01 and a 22nd place finish at the State meet.
 
Personal
Born July 30, 2000, in Las Vegas, Nevada…Daughter of Michael and Aubry Tenney…Has four siblings: Weston, Ethan, Aiden, and Mylie…Her mom is her hero (“She has been my best friend and one of my biggest supporters. She is a wonderful example of strength and kindness and I wouldn’t be where I am without her”)…Why she chose to attend Chico State: “We have one of the best teams in the nation. I also really like the atmosphere here and after a lot of consideration, it just felt right”…Her greatest sports moment finishing first at the 2019 CCAA Championships (“It was something I never expected. My parents weren’t able to be there, so I called them right after the race and we celebrated over the phone”)…The most interesting thing she’s ever done: skydiving (“It was awesome and I can’t wait to do it again. I also worked as a camp counselor at a youth summer camp up in Idaho, and it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had”)…Has learned by running cross country that “we are always stronger than we think we are. Mentality is everything, and if we truly believe that we are capable of great things then we will accomplish great things. I’ve learned how to believe in myself and how to persevere even when everything in me wants me to stop”…Enjoys the outdoors: hiking, rock climbing, and swimming…Loves to read, watch favorite TV shows, and spend time with friends and family when she has some free time…Lists singing and writing (short stories and poems) among her non-running talents…Is currently learning how to play guitar…At the top of her bucket list: “Traveling anywhere and everywhere”…Majoring in kinesiology…Plans to take some time off after graduation to travel, then pursue a career as a personal trainer or coach.
