Josh Quintal

Josh Quintal joined the Chico State Track & Field program at the start of the 2025 season. As part of the coaching staff, 'Coach Q' works with the hurdlers and 400 meter sprinters.

Quintal previously coached at College of the Redwoods in Eureka as an assistant, specializing in hurdles and sprints. There he helped coach college to a conference championship and worked with multiple athletes to break program records.

Quintal graduated from Humboldt State (now Cal Poly Humboldt) with both a multiple subjects and a single subjects teaching credential. While at Humboldt, he was a 1997 national qualifier in the 800 meter with a personal best of 1:51.92 and was the anchor of the 4x400, holding a time of 3:13.74 which is still a school record to this day.

Following his collegiate career, Quintal competed in the USATF Masters National Meet in 2007, capturing the gold medal in the 800 meter and silver in both the 100 and 200 meters. In 2013, he won the silver in the 800 meter.
