Pre-Chico Days
Ran both cross country and track for Chaffey High School in Ontario…Helped lead the Tigers to a Mount Baldy League championship…Placed 11th, third, and second at the league championships during her freshman, sophomore, and junior cross country seasons…Recorded a 3 mile PR of 18:27 while placing fourth at the Rosemead Invitational during her junior year…On the track, posted PRs of 2:22 and 5:28 at the 800m (a school record) and 1,600m distances…Named team MVP three times.
 
Personal
Born March 18, 2003, in Montclair…Daughter of Jose and Petra…Has two older siblings, Jose Jr. and Aaron…The person she most admires in the running community is her high school coach, Lizette Huerta (“Ever since she started coaching me in middle school she has given me a different perspective into the running world. She is one of the most hardworking women I have ever met and has never failed to complete her goals in running and coaching me”)…Chose to attend Chico State “because I felt like Coach Towne was one of the best coaches for me and I have also heard great things about him from my former coach. The location was also a deciding factor. I was really tired of running on sideways and when I came here to visit I just fell in love with the trails and the campus”…Her greatest sports moment is “running at Woodbridge with my team and expecting to place 10th, and actually placing second”…Enjoys going on long car rides “jamming to good music” and spending time with friends…Says her biggest talent outside of running is thrifting and upcycling clothing…Majoring in business administration…Plans to eventually become a business owner.
