Biography

As a true freshman in 2005 Julie became one of a select group of ‘Cats to earn All-West Region honors in their first semester of collegiate running.  This performance helped the Wildcats to a Regional team title and an eventual 4th place NCAA finish.  Since then, her frosh season injuries and ailments have hindered her training causing a variety of performances in both sports.  After red shirting the fall season of cross country in 2008 Julie started the track season off looking as if she might become the ‘Cats third ever sub-17 minute 5k performer.  Her 17:23 seasonal debut and PR set the stage for what would be an attack on the schools all-time 10k list and an NCAA qualifying mark at the Mt. Sac meet.  Unfortunately her body didn’t cooperate and what looked like an amazing season in progress quickly turned south when Julie realized that a nagging side stitch was actually an appendix that was about to burst.  Julie underwent emergency surgery to remove the bum organ, took the better part of two weeks completely off of running, and still returned to competition by season’s end.  Julie managed to finish third in the CCAA Championship 10k, after a brief return to running post-surgery.  With plenty of motivation to back her up Julie will be very hard to hold down as she approaches her final seasons as a Wildcat.
