Len Findlay, a veteran with more than two decades of coaching experience, enters his 10th season as part of the Chico State men’s soccer coaching staff in 2026. In his latest stint with the Wildcats, Findlay has helped Chico State earn multiple postseason appearances, including CCAA Tournament berths in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, and an NCAA Championship Tournament berth in 2023.

Findlay, who spent three seasons from 1991–93 as a goalkeeper for Chico State, is in his second tour of duty as a coach for the Wildcats, having previously served as an assistant for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams in 1994–95.

Findlay has logged several years coaching high school and college soccer throughout the North State. He landed his first head coaching job at Orland High School in 1995, spent 10 seasons from 1996–2005 leading the Butte College women’s soccer program, and twice assumed head coaching duties at Durham High School from 1999–2000 and 2012–13. Since 1994, Findlay has been a coaching instructor for the California Youth Soccer Association/U.S. Soccer Federation.

In addition to tending goal for Chico State, Findlay also played professionally, spending three years with the Chico Rooks from 1993–95 and three seasons in England for Hull City AFC.

Findlay has lent his multi-subject teaching skills to several Butte County institutions, including Butte College, Durham High School and Intermediate School, Oroville Adult Education and the Chico Unified School District.

Findlay earned a bachelor’s degree with honors in sports and recreation studies from England’s North Staffordshire Polytechnic in 1988, and received his master’s degree in physical education from Chico State in 1999.
