Biography
The 2021–22 season marks Michael’s second year in the Wildcats’ program.
Pre-Chico Highlights:
Played for two seasons at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa…Helped lead Pirates to the No. 1 JC ranking in California, the Orange Empire Conference title and a third place finish at the 2018 state championships…Earned All-OEC Honorable Mention as a sophomore…A 2016 graduate of Lakewood High School…All-Moore League selection as a senior…Named team MVP…Also lettered in baseball and football.
Personal:
Born May 8, 1998, in Los Alamitos…Son of David and Melissa…Has two siblings, Shelby and John…His mom is his hero (“for raising me and my sister and giving us everything we ever wanted”)…The person he most admires in the sports world is Tiger Woods (“for his impact on the game of golf and his comeback from multiple injuries”)…Favorite course at Chico State is Anthropology of Food, taught by Melody Yeager-Struthers…Why he chose to attend Chico State: “The small town feel and coach Nick Green”…His greatest sports moment was competing in the JC state championships at Sandpiper Golf Club with Orange Coast College in 2018…The most interesting thing he’s ever done is go on a solo road trip through nine National Parks last summer…The most impressive thing he’s ever accomplished is winning a conference title with Orange Coast College in 2018…Has learned by playing golf that “patience and a consistent work ethic leads to success”…Enjoys hiking, camping, and spending time with friends…Says his biggest non-golf talent is ping pong…Can solve a Rubik’s cube…At the top of his bucket list: “Visit every National Park”…Best advice ever received: “Everything is gonna be all right in the end, and if it’s not, then it’s not the end”…Majoring in business administration…Plans to continue his education and earn a master’s degree.
