Chico State Athletics

Tim joined the Chico State team in the fall of 2008 after transferring from Cal Poly SLO.  In his time with the Wildcats Tim has steadily improved and become a major part of the distance arsenal.  After a slow start to his initial cross country season Cannon stormed down the stretch recording an impressive 25:14 8k at the Santa Clara Invite, and placing among the top 10 in the CCAA Championships.  Unfortunately for Tim he ended up as the ‘Cats No. 8 man and missed making the West Region and NCAA squads.  On the oval Cannon continued his progression and quickly established himself as one of the team’s best 5k runners. In fact at the Occidental Invitational Tim recorded the fifth fastest 5k ever run by a Wildcat (14:20) and qualified for the NCAA championships.  Although Tim failed to make the NCAA final for the 5 000 m, the experience gained during the season and at the NCAA meet will go a long way in helping him achieve even higher marks and goals in his final two years of eligibility.
