2015-16
Opened the XC season with a fifth place rust-buster at the Ash Creek Invitational…Bounced back with a very impressive 11th place run at the Stanford Invitational clocking a PR 24:06 on the 8k course…Finished fifth at the San Francisco State Invitational after working with teammates on pack running for much of the race…Two weeks later on the same course followed his teammate Will Reyes across the finish line, placing second at the CCAA Championships to help the ’Cats win their 14th straight team title…The NCAA West Regional brought a disappointing 10th place finish, but the junior saved his best for last, finishing the season with an All-America 17th place run at the NCAA Championships…The track season was delayed due to a winter injury…Started the season with a 14:33 5k PR at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival…Placed second in his heat at the Mt SAC Invitational 10k, running to a 30:00 PR…Placed fifth in the CCAA Championships 5k final with a 14:43 run…Won the West Coast Last Chance meet with a 29:44 10k PR (and seventh best time in the event in school history) to qualify for nationals…Did not finish at the NCAA Championships  due to injury…Two-time CCAA All-Academic award winner…Earned USTFCCCA All-Academic XC Team honors…Named to CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District and All-America Track & Field Team.

Martinez redshirted both cross country and track and field in his first year with the Wildcats…Opened the fall cross country season with a 12th place effort at the Charles Bowles Invitational, recording a time of 24:35…Posted a 23:53 PR and seventh place finish at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational…Finished fourth at the Doc Adams Invitational...Took 11th place in the USATF Pacific Association Cross Country Championships, recording a time of 31:16 on the six-mile layout…On the track, ran a 14:36 5k at the Johnny Mathis Invitational…Raced to a 10k time of 30:45 at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival…Ran to a 3:56 PR in the 1500 meters at the Chico Twilight Invitational…Ended season with fourth place finish (14:41) in Heat II of Azusa’s Brian Clay Invitational.
Pre-Chico Days
Competing at San Diego Mesa College, established himself as one of the top three distance runners at the community college level in California…Finished his freshman XC season with a seventh place showing at the State Cross Country Championships…During his sophomore cross country campaign, notched an individual win at the San Francisco State Invitational with a swift mark of 25:01…Narrowly missed an individual title at the State Championship, placing second with an impressive 20:01 clocking on the Woodward Park course…Capped off a brilliant sophomore year of racing with a state title in the 10k event.
