Personal
- Born May 2, 2003, in Clovis
- Son of Moses Olea
- Has one older sibling, Kayla
- Distance runner Galen Rupp and coach Michael Smith are his heroes (“Galen has shown that an American can do well in a mostly East African-dominated sport. Coach Smith has a lot of great philosophies about how his athletes should approach running that I have fallen in love with”)
- Why he chose to attend Chico State: “Gary Towne is the main reason I came to Chico State. It is a successful program with a history of great runners who didn't always start as great runners, but Coach Towne can sometimes make a nobody into someone pretty good”
- His greatest sports moment is winning the fitness gram pacer test every year in elementary school (“I would just go until the PE coach stopped me. I found out at a very young age how much better I was than people at running fast and far”)
- The most interesting thing he’s ever done is attending the World Athletic Championships this past summer
- The most impressive thing he’s ever accomplished is run in the elite section at Azusa Meet of Champions and in the Invitational section at Arcadia
- Has learned by competing in distance running that “dreams are just dreams without discipline. Motivation isn’t even real; it’s temporary and very short-lived”
- Enjoys watching television going to get a coffee with friends when he has some free time
- His biggest talent outside of running: “I'm great at most sports—basketball, soccer, Ultimate Frisbee, football, and pickleball. I can also draw pretty well”
- Likes to drink tea
- Wants to run professionally or at a high level after college
- At the top of his bucket list: “I want to run 24:20 in the 8k this season in cross country. I also want to go to Truckee and Flagstaff, Arizona”)
- Best advice ever received he attributes to Coach Mike Smith: “Look at yourself in the mirror and say ‘whatever happens, it’s on me”
- Majoring in exercise physiology
- Plans to become a college cross country and track coach, or work in a lab for biomechanics for a big shoe company and develop better shoes for runners.
