Biography
Each year has brought a new level of success for Angel Marquez who enters his senior year of eligibility this fall. After a successful track season during his sophomore year that included a birth to the NCAA meet at the 5k distance, Marquez enjoyed a solid junior season of cross country. Marquez placed sixth in the CCAA Championships and earned All-West Region honors two weeks later. Hel saved his best cross country effort for the NCAA meet where he finished 48th overall, just three spots from the final All-American honor. On the track Marquezl picked up where he’d left off the year before notching the school’s fourth fastest 5k ever (14:18) at the Stanford Invitational. Marquez took this momentum into the postseason, notching Chico’s seventh straight title in the men’s CCAA 5k race. He then chose to run the 1,500m at the NCAA meet where he surprised the field taking second overall after having only the eighth fastest seed time going into the meet. Marquez now sets his sights on being a top-25 runner at the NCAA meet in cross country.
