2016-2017
Opened the fall season with a 5th place finish at the Humboldt Invitational…Followed that up with a 27th place run at the Capital Cross Challenge despite dealing with illness…Sat out the Triton Invitational with illness...Bounced back nicely with a 5th place run at the CCAA Championships, giving the 'Cats three of the top-5 overall and helping key their 9th straight CCAA title...Placed 16th at the West Region Championships earning All-West Region honors…Season concluded with a rare off day for Burkhart at the NCAA Championships where she placed 114th overall...Enjoyed a breakthrough season on the track with PR’s at all distances…Opened the season with a 4:40 1500 meters at the Wildcat Invitational…The Hornet Invitational in Sacramento produced her first steeple of the season, and an unexpected PR and school record as she won the meet with a 10:23 mark...She scored another PR at the Stanford Invitational with a 2nd-place finish in her heat and a time of 10:21...A week later at the Chico Distance Carnival, Burkhart won the 5,000 meters with a huge 16:48 PR and NCAA Championships qualifying time, making her the 9th fastest Wildcat ever at the distance….The Mt SAC Relays would bring another huge PR (and school record) in the steeple as Burkhart lowered the standard to 10:14 despite clipping the final barrier and hitting the track en route…The CCAA Championships did not result in another school record, but did bring a 10:24 CCAA Championships Meet record, and her second conference title in three years…Recorded a 4:36 1500-meter PR at the West Coast Last Chance Invitational while prepping for NCAA’s…Won her heat at the NCAA Championships (10:25), in the process, making her second NCAA final in three seasons....Earned her first All-America honor by placing 8th in the NCAA Championship finals with a time of 10:16.
2015-16
Started the 2015 cross country campaign with 40th and 78th place finishes at the Ash Creek and Stanford Invitationals…Took a huge step forward with a seventh place finish at the San Francsico State Invitational…Finished 18th (5th Wildcat) at the CCAA Championships, helping the team to its eighth straight conference crown…Placed 34th at the West Region Championships helping the program earn its 16th straight NCAA Championship berth…Concluded the fall season with a strong 51st place finish at the NCAA Championships helping the ’Cats land its 14th top 10 finish in the past 16 years…On the track opened the season with a 10:48 steeplechase at the Stanford Invitational…Placed fourth in the 1500 at the Chico Twilight Invitational with a 4:43 season-best mark…Sliced eight seconds off her season best for the steeplechase with an NCAA qualifying 10:40 run at the Mt SAC Relays…Earned her second straight All-CCAA steeple award with a third place finish at the conference championships…Also was a USTFCCCA All-West Region selection in the steeple…Notched a 10:33 seasonal best and NCAA qualifying mark at the West Coast Last Chance meet…A late season injury enhanced by the last chance race left her shy of making the final at the NCAA Championships, where she would place 16th in the prelims with a 10:42 run…Named to the CCAA Spring All-Academic Team and the conference’s All-Academic Team for the 2015-16 academic year…A USTFCCCA All-Academic recipient in both cross country and track & field.
2014-15
As a true freshman, Burkhart enjoyed one of the finest first impressions on the track and trails as any Wildcat has…Started the cross country season with a third place finish at the Willow Hills Invitational…Chico State’s sixth runner across the finish line at the Willamette Invitational, placing 15th overall…Placed 12th at the CCAA Championships to earn her first All-CCAA honor…After narrowly making the regional championship roster, Burkhart placed 22nd as the ’Cats’ No. 3 runner for the second consecutive race…Placed 83rd at the NCAA Championships as the Wildcats’ No. 3 performer…On the track, established herself as an NCAA standout in the steeplechase...Debuted at the Kim Duyst Invitational and broke her goal time by an entire minute, recording a 10:55...Posted early season marks of 4:45 in the Wildcat Invitational 1500 meters and 17:39 in the 5k at the Johnny Mathis Invitational…In her second steeple ever, Burkhart clocked in at 10:32 at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, taking more than 20 seconds off her personal record while just missing the school record...The Chico Twilight Invitational brought a new 4:36 PR for the 1500 meters…Broke the Beach Invitational meet record in the steeplechase with a 10:27 PR (second all-time at Chico State), which was also an NCAA Championships Automatic qualifying mark...Recorded two wins at the CCAA Championships, taking the steeplechase title with a meet-record time of 10:30 and the 5000 meters with a 17:20 PR…Voted CCAA Women’s Freshman of the Year in track and field...Running on a foot injury, Burkhart qualified for the NCAA Championship finals where she placed 12th, earning Second Team All-America honors....Earned USTFCCCA All-West Region honors in the steeplechase...Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic team.
Pre-Chico Days
Set cross country PRs on nearly every course she ran on during her senior season at Los Osos High School in Rancho Cucamonga…Posted a 17:44 mark at the Woodbridge Invitational…Finished in the top 10 at the Mt. SAC Invitational…Ran to a third place showing at the Baseline League Championships….Finished her season with an 18:34 Mt SAC PR at the CIF Prelims, placing 13th overall...On the track, recorded PR’s in the 1600 (5:17) and 3200 meters (11:30).
