BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Chico State men's golf team sits fifth through two rounds of the WWU Men's Invitational, opening with a 284 (-4) before carding a 295 (+7) in the second round.
Vineet Vallamsetty enters the final round in 10th place at 3-under after rounds of 69 (-3) and 72 (E). Sammy Bermant is tied for 19th at 1-over, highlighted by a 69 (-3) in the opening round. Ty Weaver sits tied for 25th at 2-over after rounds of 71 (-1) and 75 (+3).
Through 36 holes, Chico State leads the field in par-4 scoring at 3-over. The Wildcats have also tallied 33 birdies, the fourth-most in the field.
Vallamsetty ranks among the top five players in the field in both par-4 and par-5 scoring and has played the par 5s at 4-under heading into the final round.
The Wildcats return to the course tomorrow for the third and final round of the 54-hole event.
